Aion Xmas Event?

without comments

There seemed to be an Aion event, and well it’s either an event for xmas or an event for the break they mention early, who knows, not much information was giving when the pictures was put up on Aionmecca.com.

The event was an invasion of mobs at Elyos fortress. From the pictures looks like the Elyos race had fun. Wish i was part of it :’(

Official NCSoft Names

with one comment

I havent wrote anything in a couple of days, mainly because I was upset about when I heard that Aion closed beta is going a break and would not resume until Feb 3-4, 2008.  Taking a month plus off from working on a big project, is not a good business discussion.  What do Americans know right?.  I guess tha’s why Blizzard is No.1, cuz we dont know anything.

Ncsoft delaying there test only means one thing, they already said that Korea will get Aion release prior to US/EU released.  So, instead of playing Aion early 2008, we not gonna be able to have a crack at until June-July maybe? and Aion officially be released later 2008, Aug-Sep?.  Maybe…I love ncsoft.,

Aight, well they release official names for the characters for Aion, they gave a discription of them too, which you can find here. Here’s the break down version…

Warriors

-Gladiator

-Templar

Scout

-Ranger

-Assassin

Mage

-Sorcerer

-Spiritmaster

Priest

-Cleric

-Chanter

Also there was an recent interview with the Developer Team and I just took out the question I felt was important, but you can get the full version here.

What will a castle attack look like? Will players be able to destroy walls? When will a castle be overtaken? Will there be siege and defense weapons to prevent players from just flying over the walls?

Aion-Team: In a castle siege, rather than destroying the castle itself, players will use special skills to attack both objects and the NPC castle commander. Therefore, if there are no defending players, the fortress attack will be like a Raid, and if defending PCs join, they can utilize NPCs in their strategies. Although the attacking side cannot get any help from NPCs, they can actually utilize objects such as siege weapons. Regarding flying, a castle has an Aetheric Field (magic force field) around it as a default setting, and it restricts flight around the castle. However, because they can still infiltrate the castle, players can use the Field strategically.

How can a character become a hero and how can a hero lose his status? What are the advantages of being one and what’s the reward if someone manages to kill a hero?

Aion-Team: Heroes have several levels, according to the Abyss points they have earned over a certain period of time. Once you become a hero, you can obtain exclusive skills according to each level, and you will be able to fight against enemy players ranging in number from 2 or 3 to scores by using those skills. Of course, there are some restrictions on using these skills, and you will become the same as a normal PC while these restrictions are applied. On the other hand, the PvP reward for players who catch these heroes will be greater than normal, just like the rewards for catching Party Monsters or Raid Monsters, and it does not matter whether the hero has lost his status or not. However, if the hero enters a zone while the restrictions are applied, everyone in the zone will be notified. That hero must get help from the members of his faction to defend against the enemy.

What will endgame content in Aion look like? Will you focus on PvP in endgame or can we expect other elements like instanced raid dungeons?

Aion-Team: Although we have RvR and Raid taking place in Instanced areas and Persistent areas, it is not true to say only one of them is Aion’s endgame content. Playing in the Abyss, which incorporates both, will be Aion’s endgame content.

Can you give us a rough time schedule for the next months? When do you expect the release of the final game in Korea, and when do you plan to make Aion available to the public in North Amercia and Europe?

Aion-Team: We are going to continue to make various changes regarding the game, especially improving Hitting Sensitivity during combat and supplementing Collection/Crafting on a large scale. Aion will be available in the first half of next year in Korea, with an anticipated launch in Europe and North America later in the year.

Question for NCSoft

with 2 comments

These question was asked on aionsource, and i felt that they were very important to Aion’s community.  As in there pervious game, Lineage 2 was a big failure in terms of keeping there loyal gamers.  Question regarding botting was always “we are looking into that” and never was looked into.  In fact, it still isnt, I see alot of bots on Lineage 2 still.  How serious are they in terms of these question being answered? Well, they represent NCSoft, so ewh….whatever, we’ll see…

There was a question asked, “I know you are operating on a different time schedule that Korea but I want to know the justification for delaying the translation of information on the NCSoft Korea website regarding Aion. If it’s public, it’s not covered by the NDA and if you want your future clients to stay interested why do we have to translate this for ourselves?” but that really doesnt answer the question as to why the official site of Aion, hasnt been translate in english, and why until spring do we have to wait for the translated website?.

They always say its NCSoft’s NDA policy etc etc…but aren’t isn’t NCSoft Europe, NCSoft US, NCSoft Korean, etc.. all under one company, NCSOFT? This is one messed up company, where only one side of the company has information and the other doesn’t.  I guess this only works in Korea.  I dont understand how they can run sometime like this.

1) Will there be the promised world-wide release?

We’ve already announced that there won’t be a simultaneous release with Korea, and we’re aiming for a simultaneous US/EU release with localized content.

2) Will we even have a true beta test outside of Korea or will it just be textual checking of the localizations as client and content will be the same world-wide?

I know it’s frustrating to have to wait while the Koreans get to play, but it may help to know that they’re paving the way for us in the west to have a more enjoyable beta when our time comes. Most major issues should be worked out in Korea, leaving us free to focus on highlighting different features and experiences in the game. That’s the plan for now. As for “textual checking”, our localization department is well-equipped to deal with most of the issues, but it’s always appreciated when someone reports an oversight. We’re all only human. J

3) I know you are operating on a different time schedule that Korea but I want to know the justification for delaying the translation of information on the NCSoft Korea website regarding Aion. If it’s public, it’s not covered by the NDA and if you want your future clients to stay interested why do we have to translate this for ourselves?

I feel it’s important to be clear about this: the Aion beta is still under NDA. However, NCsoft Korea enforces the NDA at their discretion, which means that some beta content does end up in the public domain. Such information is not ‘official’, and it doesn’t get shared with us in advance; most of it appears on Korean fansites like thisisgame and AionGamemeca. NCsoft Europe’s Community team doesn’t have a resource in place to monitor and mine Korean fansites around the clock, so we can’t supply this information any faster than anyone else.

As far as NCsoft Korean website content goes, we’re working closely with colleagues over there to improve the channels of communication between us so that any delay in translating and sharing official information is minimal. This process isn’t perfect yet though, and sometimes we at NCsoft Europe end up discovering new information at the same time as the rest of the world. We know that’s not great, and we’re doing our best to remedy it.

Our policy at this point is to send everything we receive to our fansites in the ‘Disciples of Aion’ program. We want to hold back as little as possible and pass along new stuff as fast as we can. Often this means the fansites get the info before we post it to our website. And speaking of our website, our internal design team is currently working on a brand new community-based website intended for launch in the spring.

4) From everything I see, you are following the same business model as for Lineage 2. This is proven failed worldwide model (the majority of accounts belong to chinese farmers). Why are you following this same model?

We respect that players of Lineage 2 have very particular concerns about Aion. I hope you understand that I’m not devaluing those concerns when I say that I can’t go into specifics about Lineage 2 (or any other game besides Aion) here. However, I can assure you that we’re mindful of the issues that L2 players have expressed to us, and NCsoft as a whole is committed to making every player’s experience of Aion a positive one. Investments are being made to back that up. At NCsoft Europe, we will be dedicating a full GM team armed with tools to deal with all manner of abusive behavior.

5) If these questions seem somewhat accusatory and upset…they are. I have no love for NCSoft. Aion has huge possibilities and I want to have fun playing it. And most of all, I don’t want to see it ruined just the way you ruined L2.

I ruined L2? That was ME? Then my talent is truly impressive – I didn’t even work on L2.

Seriously – I get that you’re upset about past disappointments, but let’s look to the future. We all want the same thing: for Aion to be ridiculously awesome. Everyone working on and supporting the game is pursuing that goal relentlessly, and we’re harnessing all our skills, experience, and lessons learned to make Aion the smash success we all know it can be. So please have faith, keep talking to us and believe that we’re constantly representing your concerns and interests internally and to the dev team. If it’s important to you, it’s important to us.

Thanks for your patience, and if you’ve got any more questions, fire away.

Oh, and one more thing: Ayase is a genuinely knowledgeable and nice guy, and he’s fanatical about Aion and its community. The phrase ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ has never been more aptly applied to anyone.

NCsoft reveals the detailed character class

with one comment

Advanced character class system gives players ultimate control of their destiny in NCsoft’s Aion: The Tower of Eternity

NCsoft reveals the detailed character class system behind its eagerly anticipated MMORPG, Aion: The Tower of Eternity.

Wednesday 19th December/… Massively Multiplayer Online RPG fans can look forward to a wealth of career opportunities in NCsoft’s forthcoming Aion: The Tower of Eternity next year, with gamers able to literally choose their destiny thanks to the game’s two-tiered character class system.

Characters begin their journey by choosing one of four base professions – Warrior, Scout, Mage and Priest. This initial tier of development impacts on everything from a character’s strength, to their combat prowess, to their magical abilities, ultimately shaping the players actions throughout the game. However, higher-level players can tailor their character further still, with each profession offering two advanced classes, bringing the total number of character types available in Aion: The Tower of Eternity up to eight.

While the initial choice of character class will largely depend on each player’s personal style, the ability to develop a character through the advanced class system ensures that players have all the tools they need to create a character that is unique to them.

The Warrior
Bold, brave and possessing immense physical prowess, Warriors excel in close-quarter combat. Strong performers in a wide range of situations, Warriors are relatively easy to master and when fully realised can unleash a spectacular range of physically devastating skills.

Depending on how players prefer to approach combat, Warriors can specialise as either Gladiators, who concentrate on dealing damage through brute force, or Templars, who combine fierce fighting with defensive chants and techniques.

The Scout
The Scout combines great agility with swift attacks. Scout players require a deft and accurate touch to get the most out of this tricky class, however the rewards are great and offer the greatest variety in play style of all the basic classes.

Scouts that specialise in ranged combat develop naturally into Rangers, an advanced class equally adept in the use of blades and traps. For those Scouts who prefer to stay hidden and strike from the shadows, the Assassin class is the perfect choice of advancement.

The Mage
Mages compensate their weakness in physical combat with the ability to launch devastatingly powerful magic attacks. In addition, Mages must learn to divert and evade the enemy so that they’re able to attack from the relative safety of range.

As Mages advance, so their mastery over the elements of water, air, earth and fire increase, their choice of advanced class determining how that mastery is manifest. Spiritmasters can summon and control elemental spirits, while Sorcerers channel elemental power into fearsome magical bolts and missiles.

The Priest
Spiritual warriors, Priests can use healing and self-protection spells to excel in melee combat, and launch powerful ranged magic attacks too. This makes them not only useful support characters in a party of adventurers, but also powerful combatants in their own right.

Priests that specialize in healing and protecting their allies naturally progress to the advanced class of Cleric, the ultimate support class. Alternatively, Priests can become Chanters, pious warriors that boast both healing and ability-boosting powers.

Players will be able to experience all eight character classes for themselves while exploring the incredible world of Atreia when Aion: The Tower of Eternity launches later next year.

Aion: The Tower of Eternity
Advanced Class System

No two journeys through Atreia will ever be the same. At the beginning of every adventure, players are given the choice of four distinct character classes; Warrior, Scout, Mage or Priest. Each class offers its own strengths and abilities, weapons or a spells, and a unique set of skills for use in combat, whether to deal damage to enemies or heal and protect allies.

As the player gains experience and masters their chosen class, they are given the option to advance to a higher level class. These advanced classes present even greater possibilities, and ensure that the path players take is truly their own.

Warrior

Thanks to their immense physical prowess, Warriors excel in close-quarters combat. Strong performers in a wide range of situations, Warriors are relatively easy to master and when fully realized can unleash a spectacular range of skills that other classes would find difficult to match.

Warriors can advance to become a Gladiator or Templar.

Gladiator
Gladiators are skilled in using a variety of weapons, ranging from swords to halberds, their ultimate goal being to master a wide variety of fighting techniques tailored to the characteristics of their weapons.

  • Special ability: Close combat
  • Play style: Gladiators prefer to defeat their enemies through brute force power and devastatingly accurate blows as opposed to fancy sword play and trickery.

Templar
Fighting with a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, the Templar is both guardian and fierce combatant. To remain effective, the Templar should stay on or close to the front firing line.

  • Special ability: Protection chants
  • Play style: A warrior that fights with his head as well as his heart. The Templar provides shelter from enemy fire, absorbing much of the brunt in battle.

Scout

The Scout has the benefit of great agility coupled with swift attacks. The success of any given Scout will be decided by its master – it requires a deft and accurate touch – however the rewards are great. Scouts provide the greatest variety in play style of all the basic classes.

Scouts can advance to become a Ranger or Assassin.

Ranger
The Ranger lives by the bow and is a naturally talented archer. However, the bow is not the only weapon for Rangers, for they are also masters of the sword and dagger and adept in using traps.

  • Special ability: Range diversity of attack
  • Play style: Rangers need to make predictions for combat situations and adapt their tactical decisions to cope with rapidly changing circumstances.

Assassin
Assassins are experts in deft movement and the silent termination of their target. Employing a simple but deadly strategy, there are endless tactics with which to exact a swift and soundless blow to unsuspecting foes.

  • Special ability: Striking without detection
  • Play style: The main combat strategy of this class is to approach the enemy stealthily, then deal high damage with one mighty blow, targeting the enemy’s vital areas.

Mage

Mages, whist relatively weak in close combat, have the ability to deliver devastatingly powerful magic attacks. Due to the long range capabilities inherent to this class, it is vital for a Mage to learn how to divert and evade the enemy.

Mages can advance to become a Sorcerer or Spiritmaster.

Sorcerer
The Sorcerer follows the path of magic, mastering the elements of water, fire, wind, and earth. Sorcerers call on the strength of their spirit to issue bolts of fire or to freeze every bone in the body of an enemy.

  • Special ability: Long-range damage-dealing spells
  • Play style: Concentration during spellcasting is key, hence the reason Sorcerers team up with defensive classes for protection.

Spiritmaster
As well as using the power of the elements to strike fear into the enemy’s heart, the Spiritmaster can control Water, Fire, Earth, and Air Spirits with ease. A Spiritmaster’s skill set becomes very diverse as their combat ability evolves.

  • Special ability: Summoning powerful elemental Spirits
  • Play style: A true commander of the elements will know how to engage in combat, practice magic, and choose the perfect moment in a given situation to summon spirits.

Priest

The Priest is specialist in healing magic. Melee combat is possible through strategic use of self-protection and self-heals, and Priests also have long range magic attacks that can aid greatly in battle.

Priests can advance to become a Cleric or Chanter.

Cleric
Following the path of healing, the Cleric uses the power of magic to fortify an ally’s body and heal their wounds, or even resurrect a Daeva whose soul is separated from its body.

  • Special ability: Healing and protection
  • Play style: The main role of the Cleric is to provide support to allies through healing or fortification, but they can also be formidable soldiers in battle using a mace and shield.

Chanter
The Chanter’s specialty is in healing and fortifying magic, but they can also use a magic staff to great offensive effect. The Chanter uses mantras to strengthen allies and raise their morale.

  • Special ability: Fortification magic using healing and mantras
  • Play style: While fortifying allies is its greatest strength, in an emergency a Chanter can transform into a powerful soldier and can fight in close range combat using their magic staff.

The class players choose will largely depend upon their play style and how they wish to progress through the game. The advanced character class system provides even greater choice, and will give players the tools they need to create a character that is unique to them.

CBT Weekend #8, Altgard

without comments

The eighth Korean closed beta test weekend is about to begin (or already has). It’s theme is Altgard, a area named after an Asmodian fortress. Altgard is the first free flight area for the Asmodians, and an extremely cold one at that. The area is covered in snow, but the hardy Asmodians don’t seem to mind (doubt the Elyos could stand it). The Mau have also set up shop in Altgard, it seems, so running through the snow isn’t going to be as boring as it might sound. In fact, you may encounter large areas of colored snow. PROTIP: avoid the yellow spots. Anyhow, media:

Lineage II: 1st Throne

with 7 comments

WTF? Lineage II? I thought this was about Aion.  Yeah, i know it is.  But what am I suppose to do while waiting for it to be released :/.  Plus its by ncsoft, the same people who are making Aion.  For those of you who knows about Lineage II, well you know it was a good game, only thing is that you had to really work hard to get what you wanted in the game.  Nothing was giving to you easy.  When you earned an upgrade amor or weapon, you felt proud.  Because you ended working your butt off just for that upgrade.

Not many games makes you feel that way, and Lineage II did.  But the bots/ebayers ruined the game so much that many of the good dedicated players all left.  At least tha’s how it was on Erica.  And the lack of ncsoft’s part to do anything about it.

Ncsoft, just did an update patch, one of the big with the 1st throne expansion.  In this one they even included a new playable race.  A race that has no meaning what so ever to Lineage history, if your are rpg’er.  Who the hell are the Kamael?  Where they pop out from? I dont like them.  They remind me of Aion.  I think they got the idea from Aion personally, but what do i know.

That’s the updater.  Nice clean look to it.

Login in Screen…

And thus my Kamael character is created…

Plus my old old characters you see in the background, My main was Lothwen (Swordsinger)

The rest of the pic are gonna be random images i took while i was leveling up my new character.  I even forgot the name of the Kamael starter town, but oh well not really important.

My Main Lothwen Level 62 Swordsinger ^^ Very proud of her….

Ok the last 5 pictures, if you are an old l2 player, from the days back to open beta..you may be wondering holy moly!…so many mobs at noobs town.  Yeah, when I started leveling my Kamael, I notice an extremely large amount of mobs right outside the town.

Ok this is what i dont get, during open beta and even when Lineage II went retail, it was extremely hard to even find an keltir to kill just outside of starter town.  Why would ncsoft, put so many mobs with 1st throne expansion, and not after retail?.  There are so so so many mobs outside of starter town in Kamael Village.  I dont get that.  But hey, they are are Ncsoft!

Using one of the spells i just learned here.  Does alot of damage.  Overpower maybe even at low level? o.O  Not surprised.

Ok here is where I start comparing Lineage II with Aion, Just look at the stuff I circle in yellow and tell they dont remind you of Aion’s Interface.

Lineage II Interface

Aion Interface

Lastly i save this for the best…Lothwen!!!

Notice  “Bofa” in the background? o.O…Erica players would remember him…

And I think tha’s it for today…enjoy ^^

Asmodians

without comments

I havent been doing anything lately, just been leveling up a Swordsinger in Lineage 2 on a private server.  I just about done with downloading f2p games and I just want to stay with one game until Aion is out.

Visit aionsource and well, no new information. Dam. I haven’t been posting as much as I used to, mainly because well, Elyos are not so popular anymore :’(   And I have decided to post just a tiny bit of asmodians stuff, to keep my blog active ^^ If anyone is new to the game, and needs/wants to find information about Aion, you can visit here.  In fact its a good resource for Aion fans now.  Has just about all the information one would like to know.

Below are a couple of screenshot of Asmodians, doing there wing quest.  I must say that those screen shots looks so clear.  This is probley the best pictures I have seen of them, it makes them look nice, but they still ugly :P

Guild Emblems

without comments

Seems like Aion will adapted the World of Warcraft guild emblems.  Here are a couple of guild emblems I found on aionsource, thanks to jameinkaiser.

These however, compared to WoW, look alot better.  They are very well detail, the hardest part now, is which i will use for BaboClub o.O.
